e) Article 2.
2.
a. The article that I read was called Privacy fears over websites sharing
children's data. It talked about websites or apps that were asking for
personal information from kids. The main problem was that these sites
had little to no mention of why this information was needed or how it
was being used. The attitude shown by a number of these websites
and apps suggested little regard for how anyone's personal information
should be handled, let alone that of children. (Coughlan, 2015). The
article states that the sites and apps were being contacted and
changes were expected to be made.

4. Privacy fears over websites sharing children's data

a) Time when was it written? Has it been updated?

This article was written September 2nd, 2015
b) Relevance does it relate to your topic or answer your question?
Yes, this article did relate to my search topic which was, Privacy.
c) Authority who is/are the author(s)? Are they qualified to write about this topic?
How do you know?
The author of this article was Sean Coughlan. He is an education
correspondent. I am not sure if he is qualified to write about the subject of
computer privacy.
d) Accurate is the information trustworthy? Is it supported by evidence?
The information seems trustworthy but, it is very vague.
f) Purpose why was it written, to inform, sell, persuade? Is there a bias or is
the material objective?
This article was written to inform. I do not see any bias in this article.
5.
a) Ease of access
I believe both the journal article and the internet article were easy to access. The
Journal article was a bit easier to find because the page layout on the CCBC library
search engine made it easier to filter your results. The article found on Google was
easy to find and filter the search as well but, it was a bit more complicated when it
came to filtering your results.
b) Timeliness
The internet article was more up to date than the Journal article. It was about 18
days old. The Journal article was not as recent. Even though they were both written
within the same year, they were month apart.
c) Authority

Assignment 1: Information Literacy

Daisy Tanwani
The journal article had more authority. In looking up information about both authors,
I was able to find that the writer of the journal article, Robert H. Sloan, works for the
department of computer science in the University of Illinois at Chicago. The author
of the internet article, Sean Coughlan, I did not find much about.
