What kind of media institution might buy and distribute your product and why?

I have researched into music magazines that are of a similar target audience and
similar genre to mine. 'OK!' magazine is published by a large company called No
rthern and Shell publications founded in 1974 who also publish magazines such as
New!, Star, Daily Star, and the Daily Express. The main focus of these magazine
s/tabloids would be celebrity gossip and news from all over the UK. This fits my
targeted gender as women are known to like gossip and celebrity news.
Another big publisher is Bauer Media who publish Heat and More magazine which ar
e also popular with women aged 14-30+ who are interested in celebrity news, fash
ion and music.
There are not many music magazines that are specifically targeted at women; ther
efore I think that there is a gap on the market for a magazine of this type.
The publishers who publish magazines purely music based 'Q' and 'NME', Bauer Pub
lishing and IPC Media, would be likely to publish my magazine as a female altern
ative to Q or NME music magazine, it may also appeal to them because it would he
lp them to expand onto new markets. Also, female orientated would do well in oth
er sectors. To help the magazine do well the publishers might have to advertise
it as part of Q or NME so that men could recommend it to their partners or adver
tise it in places females are usually around e.g. hairdressers or shopping centr
eâ s. Also, positioning it near to the best selling magazines as the target audienc
e would notice it. If there were to be a website version it would prove popular
as it may encourage the target audience to purchase the magazine on a regular ba
sis and recommend to other friends and family, gaining secondary
