Write a script for a short commercial advertising the book Create and record a commercial/digital book talk/book trailer Create a QR code to link to their commercial/book talk/book trailer Use a QR Code Reader to view classmates book trailers Materials Needed: A book that each student has recently read Class set of iPads with apps preloaded Evernote App My Movie Maker App QR Code Maker App QR Code Reader and Scanner Activities 1. Students will read a book that interests them on their grade level/lexile level. 2. Provide each student with a mobile device with needed apps preloaded. 3. First, using Evernote students will draft a script for a short commercial/book trailer advertising their book. The commercial should include information concerning the books characters, setting, plot, and key events. They should also give a recommendation. 4. Using the camera on the iPad, students will record their commercial. 5. Using My Movie Maker, students will upload and edit their commercial. 6. Students create a QR code for their commercial using QR Code Maker on the iPad. 7. Students print the QR Code and cut it out. They may design a way to creatively display the QR Code in the Media Center. 8. Using QR Code Reader and Scanner, students can view each others QR Code commercials. Differentiation: Students may be grouped together as book buddies and given the option of reading the same book (if more than one copy of a book is available). Students may then work together to complete the assignment. This will need to be determined by the teacher and may take into account reading/lexile levels of students. Even if students do not read the same book, peer tutors/helpers may
assist students who have technology issues after the initial storyboard has been written. Assessment: Script, Recorded Commercial/Book Trailer, Functional QR Code
