Dictionary of Occupational Titles
On the website page Dictionary of Occupational Titles, it has a list of different careers
and basic information about them. The website also provides different traits one must have in
order to be successful in the job world. It also provides things you will need to do that career.
While researching careers I found one that stood out the most to me.
A career I would be interested in pursuing in the future is an elementary school teacher;
preferably first grade. To become an elementary teacher one must know how to teach students
academic, social, and motor skills in public or private schools. An elementary teacher also needs
to maintain order in classroom and playground. They also need to know how to discuss academic
and behavioral attitudes with parents. Another thing is they need to be prepared to teach
combined grade classes.
To become an elementary school teacher I plan on graduating from Everett Alvarez High
School with my class of 2016. After I graduate from high school this May, I plan on enrolling at
Hartnell College for two years and receiving my Associates of Arts Degree in Elementary
Teacher of Preparation for transfer.
Soon after I plan on transferring to California State University of Monterey Bay, where I
will receive my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Teacher Preparation in order to become
a elementary teacher. Since my little sister was born, I have wanted to be around the environment
of young children. In conclusion, if I were to pursue the career of becoming a first grade teacher
it would allow me to do what I love the most while educating the youth.
