Origins

The pegasus originated in Greek Mythology. The

story of how the pegasus was created is very
similar to the story of how Athena was made.
Perseus beheaded Medusa and out they came
along with the blood of Medusa. Pegasus was then
the sibling of Chrysaor, the son of Medusa and
Perseus. Pegasus symbolizes wisdom and fame,
though the symbols would modify through time.

Comparison
A pegasus can be compared to horses and unicorns, but there is something much
better than those two animals to compare with. A pegasus is much like an alicorn
except the alicorn has a horn on its head. An alicorn is described as A winged horse
with a single horn on its head (Wikitionary- Alicorn). The pegasus and the alicorn
would be exactly the same if the alicorn didnt have a horn or if the pegasus had a
horn. So the pegasus and the alicorn are very much alike, though they do have
differences as well.

Connections
Pegasus was son of Poseidon
although Perseus was the one to
behead Gorgon Medusa. But
pegasus sprang from her blood,
pain and sea foam, which created
the hypothesis that Poseidon (god
of the sea) had something to do
with the making of Pegasus. This
is connected with Greece because
this myth originated there, as a
Greek myth.

Modern Day Use

There is a movie called,

Hercules, and it has a
character called pegasus which
isnt actually made like how it
is told in the movie but it still is
a great film. Pegasi also star in
many other shows like My
Little Pony a kids show that
has 5 main ponies and 2 of
those 5 are pegasi.

Rainbow Dash is a female Pegasus pony and one of the main characters in My Little
Pony Friendship is Magic.
