For this strategy, you will use the
Expanded Form for each number
362 = 300 + 60 + 2 and 527 = 500 + 20 + 7

First, add only the hundreds to get a


partial sum.

300 + 500 = 800


Next, add only the tens for another partial
sum.

60 + 20 = 80
Then, add just the ones to get another
partial sum.

2+7=9
You did it! Now, add the three partial sums
together and you have your answer.

800 + 80 + 9 = 889
