Assignment Guidelines
1

Submitting Work: When you submit written work, please prepare it in a word-processor
using a format/style consistent with professional business practice. We will use the Style
Guide of the American Psychological Association (also known as: APA manual) as the
standard. Your use of the APA style assures that you demonstrate consistency,
professional appearance, organization, and effective authentication and documentation.
Quality work is free of spelling and grammar errors and has a professional appearance. I
will consider the use of APA style and professional appearance of your work in

determining your grade for an assignment. Below is a website that will help with APA
style. It is also easy to find examples of APA citations and references by doing key word
searches on the internet. For example citing websites.

Identifying Submissions: Please include, as the first page of each assignment, a title page
that provides appropriate identifying information. You will find an example of a title page
at the end of this syllabus. If the requirements for an assignment indicate a minimum or
maximum number of pages, the title page, table of contents, if any, and list of references
are not counted in the number of pages submitted. Your submissions should follow the
following guidelines:

will take the quizzes online by accessing the Blackboard Assessments tool. Grades will be made
available to the student following the submission of the quiz. You may take the reading quizzes as many
times as you like, but Blackboard will only keep the last score.

Written Exercises
Exercises are written assignments that are taken from the textbook and are required throughout the
course. You may access detailed directions for the assignment in the Course Content tab in Blackboard.

Since the various assignments in this class do not always have 100 points possible, the
letter grade for each assignment can be calculated using percentages, just as the final
grade for the course will be calculated. For example, if an assignment has a total point
value of 50 points and the point award is 41 points, 41 50 = 82%, then the letter
grade is B-. For the final course grade, the same methodology will be used. If 972 of
1040 points are earned, the letter grade will be A (972 1070 = 93.5%).
Inasmuch as it is beneficial to the learning process for our students to receive prompt
feedback on their work, I will grade each assignment, discussion, exam, and quiz and
return the results within seven days after a student submits it.
