Objective: I am an enthusiastic teacher candidate seeking a career in Special Education. I believe in


working to children's strengths and the benefits of inclusion and instructional delivery via differentiation
and high expectations for all students. My heart and passion are in education and I am excited about its
possibilities and areas of growth. I desire to gain more experience working with curriculum and to
increase the quality of life for whomever I encounter.
Education:
University of Northern Colorado, Center for Urban Education, Special Education K12 Generalist's Licensure, 2011- 2015. Gaining knowledge in the fundamentals of speech,
linguistics, mathematics, special education practices and behavior. UNC has given me a mentor who
observes me teach lessons in the classroom and gives me constructive feedback.

Experience:
Special Education Paraprofessional, Ellis Elementary School, DPS, 2015-Current
Working in inclusion center for children with pragmatic language and executive function deficits most of
who have high functioning autism. All students are included to their highest ability. I am modifying and
adapting the curriculum so that my students may access it as well as creating and using behavior plans. I
have designed and implemented various interventions. The interventions include literacy, sensory,
speech, academic and, my favorite, theatrical.
Special Education Paraprofessional, Henry World Middle School, DPS, 2014.
Working in a Affective Needs classroom I provide behavioral and emotional support for students. I also
have conducted functional behavioral analysis formally and in the moment, created engaging lesson
plans and social games, held children to expectations so that they could meet their goals, and worked in
a high stress environments.

Special Education Paraprofessional, Denver Green School, DPS, 2012-2014.

Working in a center classroom for children with autism, I create differentiated lessons for a variety of learners and
levels. I implement and scaffold academic instruction, social skills and behavioral interventions.

Teacher's Assistant Substitute, Rise School of Denver, Summer 2012.

In an all inclusive classroom, I assisted with music, speech, occupational and physical therapy
interventions to address developmentally appropriate social, cognitive and academic skills.

Respite intern and Instructor, Schlessman YMCA, Metro Denver, 2010-2012.

I created a six week program to help increase social skills, group involvement and physical activity as well as insure
a comfortable and enjoyable environment for individuals with autism. During the program I worked one-on-one with
children to reach specific goals. Additionally, I held the water safety instructor, lifeguard and child attendant positions
during my employment at the YMCA.
