Six-Point Lesson Plan

Lesson Title- The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie
Materials/Resources Needed- Oven, Baking Sheets, Small Bowl, Large Mixer Bowl, Mixing
Spoons, 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup softened
butter, cup granulated sugar, cup packed brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 large
eggs, 2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels

Review no bake peanut butter cookie lesson

-Youll remember that yesterday we did a lesson on no bake cookies. Our no bake cookies did not
need to be baked or cooked all we had to do was freeze the cookies. Today we will actually be
baking to create the perfect chocolate chip cookie.
Students will be able to beat ingredients and bake chocolate chip cookies from scratch.

-Start by getting all materials and resources together

-Model to the students all the steps of baking and how to beat ingredients
-Define beat: combining ingredients and incorporating air with a rapid, circular motion. This may
be done with a wooden spore, whisk, eggbeater, electric mixer, or food processor
-Preheat oven to 375
-Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar and vanilla
extract into large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs and beat together. Gradually beat in flour
mixture. Stir in chocolate chip morsels.
-Drop rounded tablespoon dough onto ungreased baking sheet
-While students are doing guided practice bake cookies for 9 to 11 minutes until golden brown


-Pair students into partners

-Have students gather all of their needed materials and resources
-Begin beating ingredients
-Circulate and check that students are correctly beating together their ingredients. Assist
students if they are having touble.
-Bake the cookies.


Six-Point Lesson Plan

-Taste all of the cookies made and see if the students baked the cookies corrcecty
- Students will take a quiz on oven baked cookies and beating next class period to demonstrate
their individual mastery of their knowledge of the skill
-Summarize what was taught in the lesson
-Ask students the difference between no bake and bake cookies
-Redefine the term beat
