AttendingCulturalprogram
The first day we were invited to a cultural night as part of the MP Sthapana Divas celebration in the
district. The program consisted of performances by students of various schools in the district. There
were dances, skits portraying the culture of the state and the district. We were also whole heartedly
greetedbytheentireadministrationofthedistrictwhowerepresentthereincludingtheCollector,Dy

CollectorandtheWaterResourcesMinisterwhose.Wewerealsobriefedabouttheculturalhistoryof
thedistrictandthestate.
DayOne28thNovember
ItwasourfirstdayattheDistrictCollectorate.WewereinvitedtoattendtheTLMeet(TimeLimitMeet)
organizedbytheDistrictCollectorandtheheadsofvariousdepartmentsandschemes.Themeetstarted
at11AMandlastedtill2PM.InthemeetingtheCollectoraskedaboutthestatusofthevariousissues
and activities that were pending/solved with the different departments for the past week and action
plans for the current week. Overall around 200 issues were addressed and instant solutions and
recommendationsweregivenbythecollector.
IntheafternoonwevisitedtheZillaParishadwherewemettheheadsofvariousGovernmentSchemes
inthedistrict.Eachofthemgaveadetailedpresentationabouttheirrespectiveschemesincludingthe
schemedetails,workdonetillnowandfutureplans.Thevariousschemediscussedwere

Inthemorning,wewereinvitedbythecollectortobepartoftheJanSunvaiprogramwhichwenton
from 11 AM to 2 PM. The program had the Collector sitting with his team of heads of various
departments addressing issues directly raised by the citizens of the district. After initial review of the
complaintbythecollector,thecomplaintsweredirectedtotherespectiveheadsofdepartmentswhere
appropriatemeasureswerepromisedtoresolvetheissues.Thecitizenshadcomefromvariouspartsof
the districts and the complaints ranged from delay in receiving benefits of schemes to actions to be
takenincriminalcases.
In the afternoon, we went through the presentation by various heads of departments who
detailedusabouttheworkdonebytherespectivedepartments.Thedepartmentsincluded

DayThree30thNovember
We visited the Collectorate to see the working of the program Samadhan ek divas. We were given
detailed explanation of how the requests seeking various certificates were completed in a single day.

Mostoftheprocesseswereautomatedandmaximumeffortwasmadetoresolvetheissueinthesame
day. We also visited NIC (National Information Centre) department in the district and witnessed an
actual video conference session by the collectorate officials with the secretary of the water resources
departmentsittinginBhopal.
Intheafternoonwewentthroughthepresentationoftheremainingdepartmentsincluding

DayFourandDayFive1st,2ndDecember
Our team was split into two groups of 5 members each and assigned the Blocks of Tendukheda and
Jaberatoconductfieldvisitsandseetheactualimplementationofthevariousschemes.
TendukhedaBlock
WevisitedtheGramPanchayatofHarduaHathighatinTendukhedaJanpath.Here,wevisitedthevillage
of Hardua Hathighat where we saw the Midday Meal Scheme implemented. Also we visited the
anganwadis of the village and enquired on the status of its effectiveness. Also we talked to some
villagers regarding their problems faced in the village. We visited the village of Simaria where we
witnessedtheplantationschemesoftheGovernment.WealsovisitedthevillageofBhairaghatwhere
we interacted with the teachers in the High School regarding the problems as well as the schemes
implementedbythegovernment.
IntheeveningwevisitedtheNirmalGaonofPuraKaraondiandsawtheworkdonebypeopletomake
thevillageamodelvillage.WestayedthenightatthePanchayatOffice.
JaberaBlock
Firstofall,wevisitedMalaPanchayatofJaberaBlock.WesawtheimplementationofKapilDharaand
Nirmal Neer schemes in the village. It was amazing to see the tremendous change that these simple
schemes had brought to the people. The tremendous improvement in irrigation facilities enabled the
farmerstogrownewtypesofcropsinfieldswhichhadbeenhistoricallydevoidofanycultivation.
We also saw the implementation of the Khel Maidan scheme and road construction projects under
MNREGA.ThenatSingrampurvillagewealsosawTaalabProjectwhichprovidedforirrigationfacilities
forthefarmersinthearea.Westayedinatribalboyshostelwherewesawtheactualconditionsthat
thestudentsofthelocalcommunitywerefacing.
Day63rdDecember
InthemorningwehadameetingwiththeCAOofDamohBlock,Ms.ChaviBharadwaj(IAS).Webriefed
heraboutourentireprogramandhadanextensivediscussionabouttheimplementationofthevarious
schemesthatwehadseeninourbriefvisit.Ourfeedbackswerewholeheartedlywelcomedandsteps
were promised to implement them in the future. In the afternoon we attended the Shanti Summit
organizedbythecollectorontheoccasionofMuharramDayCelebrations.Itincludedleadersofvarious
religious groups, political parties and police officials of the district. The entire days celebration was
planned keeping in mind the religious harmony of the city. Towards the end of the day we had a
discussionwiththeDistrictCollectorandtheSPofthedistrictontheexperiencesandobservationswe
hadduringourfieldtripsandwasresponsivetowardsoursuggestions.
