Motivation
(Opening/
Introduction/
Engagement)

Yesterday, we discussed how the Colonists Protested in different ways. They

boycotted the tariffs. They made posters that encouraged colonists to unite.
Today, I want you to think back to the activity we did with taxes. If you were a
colonist, and you were being taxed, what sort of poster might you make.

Development

The rest of the hour, I would like you and a partner to work together on creating a poster
of propaganda or protest. Work only with your partner.

Be as creative as you like. Maybe you want to make a propaganda poster about
being united as a nation against the British. Maybe you want to make a poster
calling for the British to repeal, or take away the Stamp Act or any other act they
passed. Decide with your partner. You have 5 minutes to decide, Once your
decision is made, come see me, tell me your idea for a poster and how it would help
the colonists protest British taxes. Then grab a poster from the stool, and draw
your idea with your partner.
Closure

With 5 minutes left, have students pack up their things. Be sure you are giving
them ample notice about when pack up time is.
