Arnold, A. P. (August 2015). The real whistle-blower in police brutality. CNN News.

Retrieved from http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/07/opinions/arnold-policeshootings/

The article covered the topic police brutality by talking about how phones and social
media have helped show the topic we are faced with today. Throughout the story they
write about how police brutality has always been around, but we are now able to have
evidence it is truly a thing since it can be shared and exposed on social media. If social
media was not such a big part of our lives today we would not know about the new
incidents that have occurred between officers and the minority. I can use this information
in my research paper as evidence to support the background of how police brutality is
believed to be exposed.

Bronstad, A. (August 2015). Plaintiffs bar goes after police brutality cases. The National
Law Journal.
This journal talked about how police brutality cases have increased throughout years and
how many plaintiffs lawyers have been getting on the cases. Since the rate of cases has
risen many lawyers have been willing to get on the cases especially ones with video
evidence of the crime happening. Despite there be a handful of lawyers willing to take on
the case there are many that refuse the offer to defend an individual against the police
officer. Since the cost has gone up to defend them it causes many lawyers to become
hesitate to take upon the case. I could use this journal as part of my research paper since
it takes about cases that have occurred and how many cases cannot be solved based on
not having enough money or evidence.

Legum, J. (March 2015). 3 cops caught on tape brutally beating unarmed Michigan man
with no apparent provocation. [Think Progress]. Available from http://think
progress.org/ justice/2015/03/25/3639158/3-cops-caught-tape-brutally-beatingunarmed-michigan-man-no-apparent-provocation/
This video showed an individual who experience police brutality personality since he was
pulled over for an unknown reason and was physically abused by the police officers.
Floyd Dent was taken down, punched, and tasered while unarmed and was unable to
defend himself. The video showed Dent struggling to breathe and get away from the
abusive police officers. The video shows Dent talking about how he could have never
committed the act he was accused of since he does not have a criminal record nor been in
any trouble. I could use this in my research paper to help support how the victims and
civilians feel about the topic police brutality.

Nicks, D., Alter, C. (December 2014). Thousands rally against police brutality in
Washington and New York City. Time Magazine. http://time.com/3632777/police
-brutality-protest-washington/
This magazine talked about the specific cases of police officers going against the
minority. They wrote about individuals who have suffered from the injustice of the police
system and how it has failed them by not being protected the way they should be. The
magazine focused on the families and communities of the victims and talked about how
they protested in the memory. They hope that one day that these protest will make a
different in how the police system is working and puts a stop to all police brutality going

on. I could use this in my research paper since it is evidence from the victims families
about what they have gone through and experienced from these situations.

Spencer, G., & Chang, D. (July 2015). Video of arrest sparks allegations of police
brutality. [NBC 10]. Available from http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local
/Chester-Police-Arrest-Police-Brutality-Allegations--318077191.html
The video shows police offices beating a man who was being arrested for resisting after
being beaten and was getting tasered. In the video it shows him bloody and not having
anything to defend him from the abusive officers. The problem first occurred when
Walter Moat was driving down the wrong side of the street and things escalated when
they decided not to give him a ticket but rather abuse him. I could use this video as part
of my research paper since it can help prove how there are different sides to every story.

Wines, M., & Cohen, S. (May 2015). Police killings rise slightly, though increased focus
may suggest otherwise. The New York Times. A1.
This newspaper article talked about the different statistics that have recently been updated
about the ratio of racial incidents compared to ones based solely on the situation itself.
Within the article it showed how over the past couple of months there has been problems
in how the police have handled the way everyone is getting treated equal. There is
question if these racial speculations would end if there were better trained officers on
duty when these incidents occur. Since these problems have started to increase there has
been question if procedures need to change and if there should be a new way to go about
situations when they start to happen. I could use this article for my research paper to help

prove the statistics that are being used to show the numbers of racial individuals that are
believed to be getting affected by these unsolved problems.

Wofford, T. (August 2015). Police arrest dozens of black lives matter protesters, body
slam man in Ferguson. News Week Magazine. http://www.newsweek.com/
ferguson-police-black-lives-matter-protests-361765
This magazine article talked about how police brutality is still ongoing even after many
incidents have occurred. During a one-year anniversary for African American, Michael
Brown, death there was problems that rose when individuals gathered to honor Brown.
Police did not appreciate the way the protesters were acting and decided to arrest 57 of
those who disobeyed their commands. Even though there have been many situations that
have caused there to be police brutality, incidents like these has caused many people to
think there will never be an end to it. I could use this magazine in my research paper to
help show how the civilians feel about the idea of police brutality.
