Rubrics For Participation

A numerical value should be given to each student at the end of each class that showcases the
participation that the student had throughout the class. There is a teacher copy and a student copy
because the students should be giving themselves a numerical value for how they felt about their
own participation at the end of each class. The teachers numerical value carries all of the weight
for the class (80% of the total grade) however the students self-perception should have a slight
impact on the teachers numerical grade. On the attendance sheet where the teacher records the
student participation grade and their own participation grade, there will be a section for
comments if the teacher felt the student deserved a different participation grade then the student
did.

Rubric for Skill Assessment

The rubric for skill assessment is done only by the teacher. Throughout class the teacher should
be assessing at least 3 attempts demonstrating the skill, and taking the best of those attempts as a
mark. In the case of the mini unit created, the teacher should be filling out each individual
section throughout the unit (ie the throwing section during the throwing class) and then filling
out the whole rubric again in the final lesson (a summative lesson). The skills observed in each
class should have a greater weight on the overall grade of the unit then the summative class.
