JOHANN SEBASTIAN

BACH

Early Years

Johann was born into a family of


Musicians on March 21st 1685. He was
born in Thuringia, Germany.
Johann would learn from early on about
music from his Father Johann Sr. He was
a local musician who played in the town
of Eisenach.
Johann Sr. also introduced Jr. to the Violin

Early Years

George Bohm was Johanns biggest


musical influence in his younger
years.
He was an organist who spent hours
and hours listening to
Bach landed his first job in 1703 at
the court of Duke Ernst in Wiemar.

Fame and Family

As Bachs skill and popularity would grow


he would land a new job at The New
Church in Arnstadt where he developed
his first public impression.
Johann married Maria Barbara in 1706.
They had 7 children together. Some of
them unfortunately passed away at birth,
but like his father he would pass on his
love of music to his children.

Toccata and Fugue in D


Minor

Bach later received the Lead


organist job for Duke Wilhelm where
he wrote Toccata and Fugue in D
Minor.
This Piece is one of his most complex
and well known.
Thanks to this piece, Bach would
eventually be release by Wilhelm to
play for Prince Leopold.

Later Years

Maria Barbara passed away in 1720. But


he would quickly remarry to only have 13
more children.
Leopold would dissolve his orchestra due
to his wifes lack of interest in music.
Johann would eventually die on July 28,
1750.
