Q)Why are hot desert's are located on 30(degrees)N/S of the equator on the western part of

the continents?(4)

Hot deserts are located between 15(degrees) & 30(degrees)N/S of the equator on the
western part of the continents where the trade winds are off-shore.As a result they don't
contain moisture but contain heat which they are carrying away from the sub-tropical high
pressure belts.Morepver, the whole of Arabia,N.W.India etc. egion fall under the escending
limb of the Walkar Cell originating over Indinesia which makes these regions a "heat sink"
as a result temperatures remain high & pressure low since, density is low a sthe heat
energy is encouraging individual atoms & molecules to move away from each other by
breaking away the inter-molecular force of attraction. The prescence of cold currents have
adessicating effect on the climate of these hot deserts aa they don't emit sensible or latent
heat a shtey travel along like their warm counterparts. For eg.-cold cnaries current & cold
benguela current flow along the western part of Africa,Californian & peruvian current flow
along the western side of american continent & Cold west Australian current flow on the
western portion of Ausrailasia continent.Although warm air rises from ths region a spart of
convection current they are not moisture laden .So,there is no scope of moisture content
being present .Moreover,if we assume that there is moisture content but it would be swept
away by the constant trade winds.
