CLASSROOM SAFETY
There are three main distinctions or issues regarding OH&S for arts practices.
- Chemical
- Physical
- Psychological
Chemical
- Keep lids on paints, chemicals, and solvents to prevent spreading of harmful fumes
- When working with paint fumes make sure there is adequate ventilation in the classroom. If there
is no way for you to open a door or window to fresh air do not continue to work in that space. This
applies for at home and in the classroom.
- If it is not raining or windy outside feel free to use any fixatives outside.
- No food is to be eaten in the art classrooms.
Physical
- If using laptops or anything with a cord make sure the cord is not a tripping hazard for yourself
and other students
- Tie back long hair.
- Make sure your ears are protected when using nosiy tools.
Pyschological
- Make sure you get enough sleep. Overtired students are more prone to accidental but harmful
mistakes.
- Take care of yourself! If you need help please do not hesistate to ask your teacher.
