-a product of invisible gases,

such as sulfur dioxide and
nitrous oxide, caused by coal
burning plants and automobiles
exhaust
-is a broad term referring to
a mixture of wet and dry
deposition (deposited
material) from the atmosphere
containing higher than normal
amounts of nitric and sulfuric
acids.

Solutions for
Acid Rain

1. The less electricity

used, the less sulfur
dioxide spread from
power plants, and fewer
nitrogen oxide particles
are emitted from
tailpipes.

2. Promote the clean

coal technologies that
integrate through
washing to remove the
sulfur coal and emit
less pollutants.

3. Installation of
scrubbers to clear
sulfur from smokes
and gas. Use lowsulfur coal that emits
less pollutants.

4. Require the use of a

catalytic converter
which drastically
reduces acid rains
content of nitrogen
oxide, lead, and other
toxic pollutants.

5. Conservation of natural
fossil fuels by using
alternative forms of energy.
