Support Serv ices People who work in this group of occupations focus on making the setting for
various health care services as comfortable and pleasant as possible. They provide services that make
patients comfortable. They also design and furnish waiting areas and hospital rooms in ways that
create a pleasant environment.
Pow er, Structural, and Technical Systems People who work in this group of occupations apply their
technical knowledge in engineering to the field of agriculture. They design buildings, machinery, and
equipment for use in agriculture. They also develop methods to save soil and water.
Maintenance/Operations People who work in this group of occupations are concerned with the
placement and maintenance of machines that are used to manufacture many kinds of things. These
workers decide where to place equipment, assemble it, and maintain it in good working condition.
Plant Systems People who work in this group of occupations study plants and how they grow. They
help farmers to take care of natural resources and protect the environment. They also figure out ways
to increase the food value of crops and how to make them less subject to pests and lack of rain.
Quality Assurance People who work in this group of occupations have the responsibility of making
sure that whatever a company delivers is of good quality. Some choose the materials that are used to
make the product to assure that they meet the highest standard. Others test the product after
production to make sure that it looks and operates correctly. Some constantly test products against
legal requirements to make sure that they conform.

Emergency and Fire Management Serv ices People who work in this group protect the public by
helping when there are emergencies. Some rescue people who are trapped in a fire, car accident, or
natural disaster such as a tornado or flood. Others drive and provide emergency medical care to
patients in ambulances or at home before they arrive at a hospital. Still others oversee and manage
rescue operations.
Regulation People who work in these occupations know and enforce the law related to standards that
protect our health and physical safety where we work and in our communities. Some workers in this
field inspect places to see if they conform to standards. Others may read reports, make claims that
standards are not being met, and testify in court trials to that effect.
Law Enforcement Serv ices People who work in this group of occupations attempt to reduce crime
and keep the public safe. They guard neighborhoods, roads, airports, and public places. They arrest
people who break the law or issue parking and speeding tickets. They may testify in court. They may
investigate crimes and answer calls for help.
Correction Serv ices People who work in this group of occupations are concerned with youth or adults
who have broken the law. Some investigate and solve crimes. Some guard criminals after they have
been placed in jail or prison. Others work with offenders who will soon leave prison or have already left
to help them find and keep work. Still others monitor prisoners for a period of time after they have
been released.
Health Informatics People who work in this group of occupations manage health-related information
and facilities. The group includes those who manage hospitals, health centers, nursing homes, and
other medical care facilities. It also includes those who collect information about clients, record it, and
make it available to those who need to know it.
