Quick Practice
1). Tell grocery store story
problems and discuss their
experiences being things at the
store. Use A.B. pg. 181 to count
objects.
2). Discuss fruits and vegetables
and ways they can be sorted.
Remind students that sorting is
looking for a way that some objects
are the same and then grouping
them together. Show little plastic
fruits on ELMO and elicit ways they
could be sorted. Sort the food
several different ways.
3). Complete A.B. pg. 152 and see if
puzzled penguin is correct.

Quick Practice
1). Have students count out 10
square inch tiles of the same color.
Tell them they will pretend the dot
side is a little bug.
2). Make all the bugs go to sleep
(dot side down). How many are
sleeping? Have students wake up 1
bug. How many are sleeping now?
How many are awake? How many in
total? Put the break apart stick
between the sleeping and awake
bugs.
3. Record this set of partners for
10 on board.
4). Continue having students wake
up 1 more bug at a time. Record all
sets of partners of 10. Discuss the
number sequence.
5). A.B. pg. 157 & 158 ~ the bugs
with dots on their wings are awake.
Draw a break apart stick and then
write how many there are of each.
6). Use cubes a and number tiles to
show partners of 6 and 7.
