Risk Assessment

The Risk Assessment course is designed for those responsible for health and safety in
the workplace to assess the risk involved and to control the measures to reduce risk.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone responsible for health and safety or who has to assess risks in the workplace.
Supervisors and managers who need to understand the legislation and appreciate the
extent to which assessments are conducted.
ABOUT THE COURSE
A practical 1 day workshop giving the confidence to conduct your own risk assessments.

Accidents - Causation, statistics and their use, accident reporting, investigations


and accident prevention strategies.

Risk Assessment Theory - Definition of hazard and risk, risk evaluation and
control measures to reduce risk, written requirements and use of checklists and
other documentation.

Group Practice - Delegates will undertake a risk assessment of an item of


equipment to consolidate what they have learnt. A practical on-site risk
assessment is undertaken from the working environment and where practical the
company systems and paperwork will be used.

COURSE CONTENTS

Legal Aspects - Delegates will understand the key aspects of the Health and
Safety at Work etc Act 1974; outline the main provisions on risk assessment in
the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999; understand
phrases such as reasonably practicable
