Engage Your Students with Real-World Projects Webinar

Please respond to the following prompts:
1

Summarize the key points you learned from this Professional Development
experience.
This webinar is about engaging your students and I think that is extremely
important. The webinar talked about how only 55% of students between 5 th
and 12th grade say they are engaged in the classroom. We need to get the
number much higher. The webinar talks about finding projects for your
students to do that not only connect with the lessons in the classroom, but
projects that can also help the communities they live in or help others in the
world. Teachers need to teach their students to be doers just not thinkers
and keeping them engaged in the class will help them become doers.

Discuss how these key points connect to your content area.

History/social studies can be a dry subject and students can lose interest
easily. The ideas in this webinar can help you keep your students engaged
with the material and keep them from zoning out during your lesson.

Share how you might use this new information in your future classroom.
I think that is webinar was very useful because I think I can take a lot of the
ideas it talked about use them in my classroom.
I think it is very important to relate what you are teaching your students to
the real world they are living in now.
I think that getting my future students into the communities and having
them do work there will help them understand the world better and will also
make them better citizens.
