libraries are declinig day by day.

Reasons?
Libraries are the custodian of knowledge. It provide vast
information on several topics. Throughout the world, people
have been using libraries but the culture of library has been
cripling day by day. Some critics count on that this trend is
due to the technological advancements and the
inefficiencies of libraries. Various reasons will be critiqued
before a reasonable conclusion is formed.
First and foremost, one of the most obvious point is the
cutting edge technology of the modern world. With the
facility of time saving, portable, durable digital e-books on
smart phones, drops the importance of libraries. Further,
Internet has made the books available online with many
websites. Particular example can be Ibook application,
kindle, scribd website on internet and mobiles. It is felt that
state of the art technology leads to reduce the importance of
the libraries day by day.
Furthermore, incapability and inefficiency of libraries to
manage the stock which leads to the problem of
overstocking and understocking of books. To add, non
-efficient hours of libraries for working class which do not
have time to go to library other than weekends or holidays,
but libraries are mostly closed on Saturdays and Sunddays. A
relevant example can be, the shelves of the libraries may be
overstocked by magazines of Bollywood, Hollywood but
understocked by books related to educational purpose like
Encyclopedia, thesis etc. It is clear that the haphazardous
conditions of the libraries are responsible for its declination.
To conclude, after hashing out the reasons for library decline,
i believed that though its importance is declining but it will

remain the main source of knowledge in schools and colleges

as a temple of learning. It is recommended that government
and local bodies should put efforts to improve the conditions
of the libraries as well as recruiting the eligible librarian.
