5) Sincerity- Samurai believed men must grudge money, for riches hinder
wisdom Luxury was thought the greatest menace to manhood, and severe
simplicity was required of the warrior class
6) Honor- The sense of Honor, a vivid consciousness of personal dignity and
worth, characterized the samurai. He was born and bred to value the duties and
privileges of his profession. Fear of disgrace hung like a sword over the head of
every samurai
7) Loyalty- Remaining loyal to those you are indebted Loyalty to a superior was
the most distinctive virtue of the feudal era.
8) Character and Self control- Bushido teaches men that morals have an
absolute standard Whats right is right, and whats wrong is wrong. The
difference between good and bad and between right and wrong are givens, not
arguments subject to discussion or justification, and a man should know the
difference.
PERFECTION OF PARTICIPANT
The true way of martial arts is the way of peace and harmony Hironori
Ohtsuka
Just how Bushido( Way of the Warrior) deals not with violence and fighting
but instead focuses on the character of the samurai, the martial arts are
meant to be more than a way to defend yourself. The martial arts teach you
to perfect yourself through training and to find peace and harmony not just
mentally through meditation, but physically as well through the perfection of
the participants character through the ways of Bushido.
The ultimate aim of martial arts is not having to use them- Miyamoto
