1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.
(fantasy vs. reality)
a. Fantasy - travel the world, see new and exciting places
b. Reality - The travel is actually a lot of fun, but sometimes being away from home for 2 weeks can
get a bit tiresome.

2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?
(educational level and requirements)
a. Currently I have a BBA in Finance
b. Further education - there are plenty of licenses/certifications that I can get that would help me excel
in my field. Attaining my MBA would also benefit me in my current role.

3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.
(day-to-day activities)
a. Participate in compliance reviews part of the team that travels to different countries and performs
in-depth accounting related compliance reviews to ensure that the Company is abiding by the Foreign
Corrupt Practices Act and other applicable US regulations.
b. Ethics hotline - Perform daily monitoring of our ethics hotline and work on any accounting related
ethics cases.

4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?
(job security)
a. Ethics/Compliance is always a necessity in any workplace environment. I think this field of work
has a lot of job security and overall a great growth potential. More companies are moving towards
developing out compliance programs in-house rather than hiring external parties to perform the work.

5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?
(salary)
a. Salary can range dependent on the position you are in, the company you work at and how much
experience you have. A Senior Compliance Analysts salary can range from 65k-100k.

6. What potential for growth is there in your field?


(growth potential)
a. As mentioned previously, there is a lot of growth potential in my field. Companies are turning to
their in-house lawyers and accountants to perform compliance related assessments rather than hiring
external parties.

7. In what ways does the company you work for help you for the future?
a.

My company supports further education and has a tuition reimbursement program.

8. Can you describe some of the people you work with?


a. We are a diverse team of accountants and lawyers. We all have various educational backgrounds
and experiences.

9. If any, how have the working conditions change in recent years?


a. Due to the downturn in the economy, especially the Oil & Gas Industry my company has taken great
cost-cutting measures. Over the past year we have laid off at least 12K employees worldwide.

10. Do you ever have to work overtime, if so do you get paid more for overtime work?
a. I am a salaried employee. My average work week ranges from 40-50 hours; however, because I am
a salaried employee I do not get paid more/less if I work more/less hours.
