When

entering department, we were greeted by a

student worker that told us to have a seat at a table
and wait for [Rachel]
Office is large
Area for her own work, and table to meet with others
Many plants in the office
Apples and other produce beside door
Offered dried apple slices before beginning the
interview
[Rachel] is very friendly and welcoming: she seems
excited about the interview
White board with check boxed and to dos
Lights off
Doors of each office open
Pictures of nature and vegetables (possibly from
[farm])
Posters and flyers throughout office
Expresses intent to recycle papers
Praises students for proposing idea
Student says she will make and email a PowerPoint
Warm, comfortable temperature
People go in and out of their offices
Single offices oriented in a square like shape around
a central working area for printing/filing/ etc.
Doors are open for each office that people are in
Employees dressed in business casual and students
dressed in nice casual clothing
Only use one computer, but there are two
Email up on one computer, and [farm] site on the
other
Not much communication with other employees
Mostly checking emails
Writing blog post
Seems to already know information and does not
need to reference notes
A few people are already gone for the day

[Rachel] has a very welcoming personality, which

makes sense because she goes to different events
to talk about [the farm] and market it to different
people, so she should be welcoming
It is nice to feel like she is interested in
contributing to our project
The environment of the office seems laid back
Her office seems to be set up in a way to welcome
people and has an area to talk with them
She probably meets with other people in her
office frequently (says she meets with students a
lot)
The environment seems relaxed
Although she is energetic when she speaks to
others, she probably prefers a relaxed
environment for working on individual tasks
She seems to use the calendar for major events
that she is working towards rather than minor
daily tasks
Since it is a Friday afternoon, it is hard to tell
whether the employees collaborate a lot since
many of them have already gone for the day
The student workers are valued for their input
