Scenario
Company introductory website for Channel 4 and E4
You work for E4 in their publicity department. You have been asked to put together an information
website to introduce the channel and its products.
You will research the company and investigate its ownership, structure, products, target audiences
and the organisations that regulate the company.
You will be required to produce a website with linked pages. You can use the free website builder
wix.com to do this. You must ensure that your website is private.

Tasks
Unit 1 P1: Explore a Media Institution
Your task is to:
Find out about Channel 4 and E4. You will create 3 linked web pages, with text and images,
entitled Ownership, Products, Competitors
Your evidence will be:

P1a A webpage titled Ownership. Your page should include information on the parent
company Channel 4, the history of Channel 4. Channels owned by Channel 4. The way
Channel 4 and E4 is funded. Public Service Broadcasting. Freeview.

P1b - A webpage entitled Products. You should outline the types of programmes Channel
4 and E4 show. These should be grouped under the appropriate genre. You will also need
to research the commercial and channel advertisements shown.

P1c - A webpage entitled Competitors. You will need to research the other freeview
channels and look at the advantages and disadvantages Channel 4 have over their
competitors.

Unit 1 P2: Explore a Media Product produced by the Institution


Your task is to:
