Dr. M.V. Kamath, Veteran Journalist passes away on


Oct 2014

Alvas Education Foundation, Moodbidri deeply mourns the death of Padmabhushan


Dr. M. V. Kamath, Former chairman of Prasara Bharati Corporation, Govt. of India. Dr
Kamath was the only journalist who recorded and reported the Indian independence
as well as the trial of Naturam Godse.

Dr.Kamath, a veteran journalist and columnist was the Washington correspondent of
the Times of India from 1969 to 1978 and was also the editor of Illustrated Weekly of
India. He was awarded Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Indian journalism in
2004 and he has written over 50 books. The latest being one on Prime Minister
Narendra Modi. Kamath was the honorary director of School of Communication,
Manipal University since its inception in 1997.

Dr MV Kamath was honoured at the 8th Alvas Nudisiri (2011) for his distinguished
career in media and publications. He also visited AIET in 2011 for the release of The
Review a bi- annual newsletter. He has contributed to the second version of The
Review

with

his

column

THE

DEVALUATION

OF

THE

MEDIA.

He was also honoured with a Doctorate degree by the Mangalore University.
