What Does It Mean To Be Well?

Name: __________________
Your Task: Your group (of 3-4 people) will be assigned one aspect of well-being. Your job will be
to create a presentation describing and detailing various influences on and strategies for dealing
with that aspect of well-being (requirements described below). You will be presenting this to
the class.
Rationale: Well-being is a broad and daunting topic, and this project will help you consolidate
what you have learned in this unit into a single string of ideas, and add any of your own previous
knowledge in order to help your classmates. Also, presentation skills are a fundamental
requirement in many future careers.
Requirements:
1. Your group will choose from one of the following aspects of well-being:
a. Emotional and mental well-being
b. Physical well-being and healthy choices
c. Spiritual well-being and balance
d. Relationship and sexual well-being
e. Technological well-being
2. You will be required to discuss the following:
a. Definition: What is the issue? What does this aspects mean?
b. Scope: Who does it affect? How does it affect them? What aspects of life are
changed/what issues can arise?
c. Major Influencing Factors: What kinds of poor choices affect this aspect of wellbeing? What outside forces influence it?
d. Coping/Development Strategies: How can you deal with poor well-being in this
area? How can you avoid it in the future? What are some support systems you
can access?
e. A High School Context/Intervention Plan: What would this issue look like if a high
school student were being affected? How could you help? What are some ways
this affects high schoolers specifically?
3. You can present this in any format that you feel will be effective, but you must run the
idea by me first.
4. Your presentation can use resources discussed in class, and any other resources you
access online or in print. Please make sure your resources are accurate and effective.
5. You will be presenting on Friday, October 30th. That means you must use your class
time effectively!
6. When your presentation is complete, you will (on a separate sheet of paper):
a. Describe what each member of your group contributed to your presentation.
b. Identify one strategy you saw in a presentation that you will try and apply to your
life and why.
