defendwhytheychosetheanswerthattheychose.Uponcompletionofhomeworkreviewtheteacherwilltakeapoll(byshow
ofhands)onthecomfortlevelofcontentknowledgefromthehomeworkassignment.Studentswhofeelthattheyneed
supplementalinstructionswillbedirectedtothebackoftheclassroomwheretheotherteacherwillbeprovidingasmaller

Studentswillleavewithathoroughunderstandingofthescientificmethodandanewappreciationfortheindividual
skillsthatmakeupthescientificmethod.Thetermunderstandingwillbemeasuredinmultipleways.Thestudentswillhave
participatedinagroupactivity,completedanexitticket,andwillhaveanamazinghomeworkassignmentthathasthemuse
theircriticalthinkingskillsandprior/newlygainedknowledgetosolidifytheirunderstandingofthescientificmethod.Between
thegroup/videoactivityandthehomeworkassignment,thestudentswillbeusingavarietyofguidedpracticeactivities.
Guidedpracticeisanimportantstepinwritingastrongandeffectivelessonplan.Thiswillcheckforunderstandingaswellas
demonstratewhatthestudentshavelearned.Upontheconclusionoftheclassperiod,thestudentswillbeinstructedonhow
toapplytheseskillsoutsideoftheclassroomandencouragedtobecriticalthinkers.Theendgoalisforstudentstobebetter
