Project Plan
Scott Allen and his design team were given the responsibility to work with a project
manager and instructional designers to design learning objects for Primary Learners within K-12
classroom in Australia. Each team was given various briefing on expectations and to meet and
come up with possible solutions for the finish product. During various briefings, members of the
design team express their disagreements with the expectations and voiced their concerns about
constraints and limitations that this project would encounter.
The design team members have vast experiences in various areas relating to the projects
expectations. SchoolsOnline requires learning objects to be developed so as to actively engage
learners and can be used by teachers and students either on a small scale basis or utilized within a
classroom setting.
Rationale
Within an Australian educational context, SchoolOnline requires a project team to
develop educational learning objects for K-12 learners, as opposed to full DVD or web based
project. These learning activities should be on a small scale to incorporate delivery in a small
class as well as for students to work with independently. Assigned teams should meet to read
through briefing to derive the most appropriate solution to design the learner object. The objects
designed must be reusable within the scope of this project; Our Nation and Society-suitable for
an Australian national curricular needs.
Project Plan
PURPOSE
To design learning objects to accommodate teachers and learners within an Australian K12 national curriculum; with the aim of actively engaging teachers and students either on
a small scale basis or to be utilized within a classroom setting.
OBJECTIVES
To develop learning objects for K-12 learners within an Australian educational learning
context.
To design learning object that will cater for learner active involvement in the classroom
To design learning object on a small scale-resource that are flexible enough for a teacher
to use with a whole class or for a student to work with independently.
To design learning objects which are practical and relates to the learners experiences.
To convert the traditional K-2 Social Sciences curricular into a web-based and CD-ROM
format.
To enable Constructivist learning theory that will engage learners actively and will
reconstruct knowledge out of experiences in the world.
To develop values, understandings, skill, disposition, and behavior associated with civic
decision making and with principles of the democratic process, sustainable futures, and
social justice
5
Project Plan
CONSTRAINTS
Working with a development team that they team has not previously worked with.
Concepts that are outlined in the briefing literature are different from what are required.
Learning objects will need to be appropriate to Australia setting and be less usable in
other national contexts.
The writing team has experience in technical and creative writing but do not have
educational background.
Teams are working with each other for the first times and have no prior interaction.
ASSUMPTIONS
Fixed Timeline
The project and the development of learning objects can be completed within three (3)
months.
Project Plan
SchoolsOnline wants to avoid using full color graphics so as to decrease the size of the
file of the learning objects.

Project Schedule
The SchoolsOnline project will take the effort of all team members involved for the duration of
the project. This project is schedule to last for three (3) months. Activity sequencing will be used
to determine the order of work activities to complete each deliverables; and also assign
relationships between project activities.
The project schedule of SchoolsOnline will be created using MS Project 2013 online and Open
Project or Samrtsheet starting with the deliverables identified in the Work Breakdown Structure
(WBS). Once a preliminary schedule has been developed, it will be reviewed and resources will
be assigned to the tasks.
See Appendix 1 and 2 for scheduling.

Objectives:
To convert the traditional K-2 Social Sciences curricular into a web-based and CD-ROM
format.
To enable Constructivist learning theory that will engage learners actively and will
reconstruct knowledge out of experiences in the world.
Learners of online learning environments can construct meaning by reflection of their
lifes experiences and then through examining how their experiences shape their
understanding
To create mockup/layouts for conversion of Kindergarten, first and second grade.
To develop values, understandings, skill, disposition, and behavior associated with civic
decision making and with principles of the democratic process, sustainable futures, and
social justice
To develop understanding about contemporary society as a springboard for
understanding self and others and for examining the contribution needed to bring about
preferred futures (Ertmer, Quinn & Glazewski, 2014).
