Attendance
Attendance in your enrolled section is mandatory every week and I will take
attendance. Coming to and participating in discussion will help you
understand the concepts from lecture and will help improve your grade.
Coming to discussion can only help you!!
Handouts
Each week I will make handouts to help you with concepts from the previous
weeks lectures. I will post the answers for the handouts on bSpace the
following week.
E-mails
Please email me at michelle.bio1a@gmail.com. If you email me at any other
address, I cannot guarantee that I will see it and respond to it.
bio1a.gsi@gmail.com is the general GSI email. If you email questions here
any of us can respond to you.
It may take me up 24 hours (but no longer) to respond to emails. I may
respond quicker depending on my availability, and I will not check my email
after 10 pm. Keep this in mind if you email questions the night before the
exams.
Cheating
If we catch you cheating on iclicker questions, mastering biology, or tests
you will receive an F in the class. IT IS NOT WORTH IT TO RISK YOUR
ENTIRE GRADE FOR A FEW EXTRA POINTS!!
Students with Disabilities
If you require special accommodations due to a disability, please inform us
in private immediately either after class, during office hours, or via e-mail.

Resources
We all want to help you succeed in this class. There are many opportunities
outside of lecture and discussion to seek assistance
Study Groups: Make study groups (probably no larger than 4 people) with
other people in the lecture or in your discussion. Talking it out always helps
and you learn the material better when you teach it to someone else
Office hours: You can attend the office hours of any of the 9 GSIs for this
class. They will all be held in 2084 VLSB M-F between 10-2.
Each professor also holds office hours during their respective sections. Go to
them: they are great resources! Also a good way for them to get to know
you! In a class of 750 people, they wont know who you are unless you make
the effort.
Student Learning Center: They have drop in tutoring and study group
registration for Bio 1A. Its a great way to have peer tutors who have taken
the class before to help you out
