award $20,000 in college scholarship money to
graduating U.S. high school students who have
promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or
communities. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or
fowl

DAR Good Citizens


program

$250 - $5,000

The DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship


contest is intended to encourage and reward the
qualities of good citizenship. The program is open
to all senior class students enrolled in accredited
high schools. The student selected as the schools
DAR Good Citizen must have the qualities of
DEPENDABILITY (which includes truthfulness,
loyalty, and punctuality), SERVICE (which includes
cooperation, courtesy and considerations of
others); LEADERSHIP (which includes personality,
self-control and ability to assume responsibility);
and PATRIOTISM (which includes unselfish interest
in family, school, community and nation) to an
outstanding degree. If you feel you meet these
requirements, please see your counselor or Mrs.
Rainbolt immediately as you need to be nominated.
Nominated students will need two letters of
recommendation and you will need to participate in
a timed essay under the supervision of a faculty
member. The winning entry advances through to
state and national levels.
