NURSING PREPARATION
Cultivated strong passion for neonatal critical care during NICU rotation in 49-bed highly specialized, technically
advanced, and nationally recognized UCSD Hillcrest. Displayed intuitive and critical thinking skills, understanding how to
assume the role of an attentive caregiver without interfering with mother/child bonding.
Developed and implemented advanced treatment plans for infants requiring complex care including CHF, congenital
disorders, and obstetric emergencies.
Strictly adhered to facilitys policies, core measures, safety procedures, and professional standards.
Family/Maternal Child training. Assumed role of transition nurse tending to a wide-range of deliveries from vaginal to
cesarean section.
Excelled at mother and newborn care: vital signs, pain management, patient teaching including breastfeeding and
circumcision care, bedside care, newborn assessments and medication administration, vigilant patient monitoring,
charting, physical and psychosocial assessments, postpartum mother assessment, and identifying and assisting with
complications (at-risk pregnancies).
Established trust with family by folding family dynamics into care planning: appropriate communications and
compassionate nursing care.
Service oriented. Began volunteer healthcare career as a candy striper during high school. Gained extensive experience
volunteering in various departments including Emergency, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Intensive Care Unit
(ICU) at local hospitals.
Delivered therapeutic communications in English and Spanish. Acted as a resource for Spanish-speaking patients,
serving as translator. Consulted, supported, guided, and educated patients. Instructed, clarified, and explained case-specific
disease etiologies, treatments, and expected outcomes to patients and their family members.
Evidence and Researched-based Practice. Member of Deans Care Transitions research project. In conjunction with
Sharp Hospital, sourced geriatric patients for the program designed to minimize hospital re-admission rates.
