Extended Inquiry
11/15/15

For the extended inquiry I plan to do a scrapbook. I will have two scrapbooks.
One will be of the people who Chris met on the road and considered family and the
other will be his actual family, parents and sister. This will show how he viewed his
relationships with people. It will relate to my topic by proving that just because you
share blood does not mean you are family. It will also relate by showing how you can
consider people family even if you are not related to one another.

Peer editing questions:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Is there a better way to show this?

Who are some people he met on the road that I could use?
Should I include quotes that they said?
How should I show that his parents werent considered family?
Should I do one or two scrapbooks?

Reflection:
1. In the beginning I did not really have a clear understanding of how I wanted
to word my topic. I have been doing all the steps without a very clear idea of
my topic. As I have worked with other students on this, I have developed a
better idea of the key points of my topic.
2. My research was not easy to find. I tried to use google scholar and the library
website and found nothing that related to my topic. I ended up doing a
survey and an interview to get some different opinions on my topic and use
them for sources. The survey provided more information than the internet
source most likely because people were able to respond to specific questions
regarding my topic.
3. It surprised me that there was research on something not related to this. I did
not find as much information as I thought I would but made it work with the
survey and interview. I do not really know how to broaden my search to find
more research.
4. I did not find any of my previous writing experiences helpful. I am used to
writing essays and so my writing style is geared more towards that format
rather than the writing we are doing. In this project I am using an informal
format.

5. My group has been really helpful in this project. We were able to talk to each
other and clarify things during this project. They have helped me decide what
to write for some of the project.
6. This has been different from other research projects Ive done in the past. As
far a research goes, I have only had to cite them but not write other things
about them. Every part of this project I am doing for the first time.
7. I learned that there is more than one way to do a research project. I also
learned that there are many different directions you could go with just one
book.
