DAVID JESSICK & PATRICK MOORE

What is sequestration

Sequestration is part of the Budget Control Act that mandates $1.2

military over the next decade (Sequestration and The Military).

Sequestration And the Military

How did this come to be?

This all came from the Budget Control Act of 2011. ("The Budget
Control Act of 2011)

This was a compromise on the debt ceiling.

The United States was not going to be able to pay bond holders.

This bill was proposed by the Republicans who took majority in the
House of Representatives.

Effects of the Budget Control Act.

The debt ceiling was increased $400 Billion USD immediately and up
to $1.5 Trillion later ("The Sequester: Absolutely Everything You Could
Possibly Need to Know, in One FAQ.)

Spending was reduced by $917 Billion over the next 10 years.

Congress was required to pass a deficit reduction bill or

sequestrations would start.
