To Whom it May Concern:

I have worked with Dax Garrett for the past year and a half, here at Concordia International School
Shanghai. Last year, as technology integration specialist, I first became aware of his practices of
technology integration in the elementary physical education setting and was impressed! From afar,
I could tell that he was accustomed to working, thinking and practicing his craft in an inquiry based
setting. His practices surpassed how we were teaching physical education at Concordia at that time.
This year, I have had the good fortune to work alongside Dax as his partner in the physical
education department. He is an effective and supportive communicator and has allowed me to
bridge my gap from technology to physical education while offering insight to the true value of
technology in this unique setting. His vision and teaching practice of empowering students to take
ownership for their own learning while nurturing them to set and achieve goals is contagious.
Together, weve been piloting, developing and implementing an inquiry based physical education
program at Concordia.
Dax has been instrumental in establishing an assessment program which facilitates goals based
learning and keeps track of student progress and achievement throughout the year. Together, we
continue to develop units in collaboration and document them into Atlas Rubicon, our schools
curriculum mapping tool.
Dax meets each individual where they are, sees them as unique contributors to his class and helps
each student to understand how to move forward individually. In speaking with Dax, Ive grown to
appreciate the way he views curriculum, students and the workplace as a whole. Dax is a real
people person. He is compassionate about his work and the people in his life and is a real pleasure
to work with.
Although Im not quite ready for Dax to leave just yet, I recommend him without hesitation to your
school. I know that he will bring a wealth of information, experience, insight and a passion for
student development in any physical education department he joins.
Warm regards,
