Course Description: Hello 2016 students! This introductory course to high school
physical education is aimed to prepare students for a wide variety of physical activity and
fitness. In this course you will get the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of
games: Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, Volleyball, Team Building, Soccer and many more!
The best part of this course will be the amazing new technology we have just received in
Heart Rate Monitors. Students will begin to develop the ability to understand how to push
themselves in class when working towards different Target Heart Rates per activity.
Students will also be expected to actively participate in improving cardiovascular
endurance, muscular endurance and muscular strength throughout the year. Students will
participate in FITNESSGRAM physical fitness testing throughout the year. The series of
tests are aimed to help students discover their current level of physical fitness and also
provide personal goals, activities and strategies to improve throughout the year.
Grading: With the addition of Heart Rate Monitors students will experience a new form
of grading this year. With that being said. Students will also be expected to:
Attend class every day (-1 point towards final grade for all unexcused)
Come to class in attire that will maximize participation (genes, dresses, dress
cloths, dress shoes, sandals, flip flops, etcwill not be acceptable, -1 per)
Injuries: If students cannot participate in class period they will need a doctors
note. If students cannot participate in a specific activity, students will need to
communicate with teacher prior to class.
Positive Atmosphere: Students are expected to remain positive throughout each
and every class. Any sign of bullying or targeting will result in reprimanding and
grade reduction.
