Letter of Recommendation for Nancy Romero

I am very pleased to write this letter in support of the solid academic work of Ms. Nancy
Romero in the Professional Communication courses she took with me during her years of
study at Alverno College. Along with showing solid command of the subject matter, Ms.
Romero displayed an incredible positive attitude toward her learning that truly enhanced the
larger classroom environment.
In the Public Communication course, students are required to demonstrate an understanding
of essential public speaking theory and application while presenting several speeches
throughout the semester. Ms. Romeros ability to carefully analyze her audience, occasion,
and topic was skillfully exhibited as she delivered a variety of powerful messages to her
listeners. Ideas were well organized, resourcefully developed, and shared with much poise
and confidence. With each speech, it was clear that Ms. Romero had devoted a great deal of
time and energy in creating a successful presentation that had best met the needs and
interests of her audience.
Her passion for learning, in general, also came shining through in the helpful contributions
made by Ms. Romero during class discussions in all the courses she had with me. She
consistently added thoughtful comments in order to clarify her understanding of concepts.
This, in turn, helped strengthen the knowledge base of her peers as they, too, eagerly
continued their involvement in discussions. Her calm, gentle presence was a welcome asset
to our learning experiences. This was especially appreciated during the Interactive Listening
course, as Ms. Romero truly modeled the concepts and theory of the course.
Overall, Nancy Romeros performances in her Professional Communication courses were
strong. Along with creating speeches and papers that reflected careful thought and
preparation, she displayed cheerful enthusiasm for her learning in a manner that supported a
positive learning environment for us all.
