The rooms in the house and family members. / English

Opening (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group activities)

Take students to the carpet ( ask about the date, days in a week, months in a year, take the attendance,
and the day of today).
Show students video about the family members. Then, I will review about family members and the
rooms in the house through a short story. After the story, I will ask the students about the story focuses
on the rooms in the house and family members.
Guided Experience (group working with the teacher)
Each child will get a basis sheet with the house parts drawn on it and blank
squares to write the vocabulary words. First step, after distributing the basis
sheet ,each student will write the vocabulary related to the prior knowledge
which is family members (Father, Mother, Sister, baby, and Brother) on the five
blank squares, I will use the flash cards to help the students in writing. Secondly,
the students will read the words to match each name with a part of the house
(lesson of today) after they hear the information. For example: the father is in the
bedroom and the students will match the name (Father) to the room (bedroom).
And the information will come from the students, and thats because I will give
each student from each group one sentence, and they will read the sentences to
each other. While they are working I will support and help the students, and I will
be focusing on the low level students and work with them.
(Explain, Engage, Explore and Extend).

Independent Experience (small group activity 1)

During the students work on the activities I will support and help them.
Group one and group two will get a sheet with house drawn on it, and pictures of rooms draw in the
bottom of the sheet. The rooms in the house will be empty. I will label the rooms (dining room,
kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom). And so, the students first will cut the pictures. Then,
they will read the names to glue the pictures according to the labels( Speaking and Listening).
(Engage, extend, explore, and evaluate).
Independent Experience(small group activity 2)
Group three and group four will get a puzzle. The final picture will be room in the house and a family
member. Then, they will write sentences about each room ( the father is in the living room) for
example. When I come to see them, they will describe and read the sentences for me. ( Discovery
learning and speaking).
(Engage, extend, explore, and evaluate).
Independent Experience(small group activity 3)
Group five will get model of the rooms in the house, furniture, and they will get pictures of family
members. What they have to do is to decorate the rooms and then distribute the family in the rooms.
Then, they will tell where are they.
(Engage, extend, explore, and evaluate).
Extension activity for each group.

Closing
Check the answers together. Work on the activities.

Time:

5 minWhole

If any group finishes the activity. Each two or three students will get pictures of the rooms , and they will
ask each other ( picture number one , is this a kitchen) for example, to fill the missing numbers. Then the
other student will respond depending on the picture.
