teachers' technological literacy and teaching effectiveness in Taiwanese
elementary. Journal of Educational Technology & Society, 15(2), 328-340.
INTRODUCTION
Research Questions (if research questions are not specifically mentioned, what is
the theoretical background or overarching theme):

What is the relation among principals technological leadership, teachers

technological literacy, and teaching effectiveness?

Purpose of the research:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among technological

leadership of principals and the technological literacy and teaching effectiveness
of elementary school teachers. The study also explores the notion that principals
technological leadership, as mediated by teachers technological literacy, can
affect teaching effectiveness.
METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants: 1000 teachers randomly selected from 100 6 Taiwanese

metropolitan cities elementary schools.
Procedures: A survey was prepared which was conducted as a pilot study with
204 teachers and school administrators to improve the reliability and validity.
Data Collection Methods/Data Source: The survey was randomly sent to the
Director of Academic Affairs Division of each elementary school. Then, the
Director randomly selected the teachers based on the cover letter sent to the

school. The survey asked teachers to evaluate the principals role in leading and
facilitating technology use, teachers technological literacy and teaching
effectiveness in their schools. Of the 1,000 questionnaires distributed, 60.5%
were returned
Data Analysis:
This research empirically investigated the relationships among principals
technological leadership, teachers technological literacy, and teaching
effectiveness and tested the structural equation model (SEM). SPSS was used to
calculate scale reliabilities (the Cronbachs alpha) and to perform factor analyses.
The final SEM model was done with LISREL
RESULTS
Findings or Results (or main points of the article):

The parameter estimates for the five constructs that comprised principals
technological leadership were significant.
The parameter estimates for the four constructs that comprised teachers
technological literacy were significant.
The parameter estimates for the five constructs that comprised teaching
effectiveness were significant.
The findings confirmed previous research that principals technological leadership
improves teachers technological literacy development and directly influenced
teachers integration of technology into their teaching practices. Furthermore,
teachers technological literacy (LITERACY) directly affected teaching
effectiveness (EFFECTIVE). Principals technological leadership also improved
teachers teaching effectiveness. The findings also supported previous research
mentioned earlier in this study.

DISCUSSIONS
Conclusions/Implications (for your profession):
This study proves that principals as technological leaders must develop and implement
vision and technology plans for their schools. Leaders should provide technological
infrastructure and trainings for technological improvement. It is also important to get
feedback from staff, students and parents and evaluate the success of technology plan
in the school. And after getting evaluations the plan should be revised and proper
precautions should be taken to improve it.
REFLECTIONS

Students Reflections (changes to your understanding; implications for your

school/work):
I understand that being a role model as a school leader is very important. Being a
technological leader is a challenge because the speed of growth is very high. But the
study shows that it is important to increase technology literacy as an administrator to be
able to guide and increase staffs technology literacy which at the end will bring student
success.
In the school district that I work, students are provided hardware and as an integration
part they are provided soft wares such as study island, aleks, reading eggs, i-station and
such. The schedules are adopted for encouraging online usages. I see that our district is
on top of technology plan.
