Nursing Diagnosis

Risk for heart disease among food bank population living in Marana/Oro Valley R/T lack of
education on nutrition and low income AEB increase prevalence of heart disease among low
income populations

Evidence-based Intervention
Provide the food bank with pamphlets that inform their patrons of heart healthy
recipes that can be made using food bank ingredients.

resources to meet their daily needs, then those needs go unmet.

Promote health and reduce chronic disease risk through the consumption of healthful diets
and achievement and maintenance of healthy body weights

Evaluation

Goal: Reduce the risk of heart disease in food bank clients


SMART objectives: 1 month after implementation
Food bank clients will state satisfaction of recipes using a 1-5 scale
50% of the clients will verify use of at least one healthy recipe
