Thisplanistoinsuretheclassroomisasafeandpositivelearningenvironmentforallindividuals
thatareintheroom.Thisplanwilleliminateanybiasinconsequencesgivenandreceived.As
wellitwillprovidesolutionstoproblemsandwillallowforteachingandlearningtohave
minimalinterruptionsandproceedsmoothly.

MyPersonalTeachingStyleplaysonHowardGardner'sMultipleIntelligencetheory,usinga
varietyofteachingmethodsthrougheachlessontoinsureeachstudentwillreceivethetarget
informationinthebestwayforeachofthemandtheirpersonallearningstrengths.
Gardnersaysthatthesedifferences"challengeaneducationalsystemthatassumesthateveryone
canlearnthesamematerialsinthesamewayandthatauniform,universalmeasuresufficesto
teststudentlearning.Indeed,ascurrentlyconstituted,oureducationalsystemisheavilybiased
towardlinguisticmodesof
instructionandassessment
and,toasomewhatlesser
degree,toward
logicalquantitativemodesas

3. Teacherwillstarttheclassofwithaquickquestionandanswerordiscussionoverthat

2. RespectYourTeacherandClassmatestheirart,theirpossessions,andideasetc.

4. CleanUpAfterYourself

Grade.
5. NoStickyFingers
a. Ifyoustealanythingfromtheartroomsyouwillreceiveazeroinyour
PIC
grade
andwillbesenttotheprinciples.
6. Studentsasaclasswillcomeupwithatleastthreeadditionalrules,moreiftheyfeelitis
necessary.

a. Eachassignmentwillbeworthadifferentaboutofpoints
2. VolunteeringintheArtsDepartment
a. Thiswillentailhelpingoutwithagalleryshow,theaterproduction,
fundraising,classroompreparation,etc.
3. ExtraProjects
a. Eachextraprojectwillmatchtothecurrentprojectbeingdone.

b. Ifthereisnocurrentprojectthestudentmustcreateaworkofart
thatmatchesanartcompetitionforyoungartist.Thestudentsmust
thenentertheworkintothecompetitionandprovide
documentationtotheteacheroftheentry.
AlloftheClassroomruleswillbepostedatthefrontoftheroominlargeandcoloredprint
withimagestogoalongwiththem.Acopyoftheruleswillbesenthomewiththestudents
sothattheparentsaremadeawareofthePICpointsandwhatthoseare,whattheymean
andhowstudentscangetthemback.

Gradeing:
EachProjectwillbebrokendownintofivecomponentsthatwillfactorintoeachstudentsgrade.
Thefivecomponentsarelistedbelow.
LearningObjectivesandStandards:50
Eachstudentisrequiredtomeeteachlesson'slearningobjectivesandstate
standards.Measurementsofeachstudentscompletionofthesearelistedineach
lessonsrubric.TherearetwoStateStandardsandthreelearningObjectiveseach
work10points,equaling50pointsand50%ofthestudent'sGrade.
Craftsmanship:10
Craftsmanship

isdependentontheappearanceofthework.Iftheworklooksas
thoughithasbeenthrowntogetherovernightwithlittlethoughtoreffortputinto
theprojectthestudentwillbedockedcraftsmanshippoints.Thisisassessedon
thetechnicalaspectsoftheworkandnoteachstudentsindividualskilllevel.
Studentsthatcompletetheprojectsuccessfulwithalltechnicalaspectsshowing
thought,effortandtimeputintothemwillreceivealloftheCraftsmanshippoints.
Effort:10
Effortisdependentonhowmuchworkthestudentsputsintotheproject.Ifduring
thedurationofthisprojectthestudentisslackingoff,workingonotherclasses
assignments,offtask,distractingotherstudents,ortalkingtothepointtheyare
notworkingontheirprojecttheywilllosepoints.
Ifastudentisworkingdiligentlyforthedurationofthisprojecttheywillreceive
alltheireffortpoints.
Technique:10
Techniqueisdependentonthestudentsuseofthematerialsthroughoutthe
durationofeachproject.Ifastudentusesmaterialsincorrectlyorinappropriately
thatstudentwillbedockedpoints.Studentswillalsolosepointsiftheyareusing
toolsandmaterialsthatareinappropriatefortheproject,orthattheyhavenotbe
taughthowtouse.

Studentsthatuseallmaterialscorrectlyandonlyusematerialsandtoolsthatthey
havebeentrainedtousewillreceivealloftheirtechniquepoints.
ParticipationPoints:20points
Thesearepointsthateachstudentearnsbyshowingupandworkingdoingclass
throughoutaproject.Aswelltheyareearnedbyparticipatinginclassdiscussions
andclasscritiques.Studentsarerequiredtoparticipateasapartofeachprojects
grade,thesepointsare20%oftheirgrade.
Studentswillloseparticipationpointsiftheydidnotcleanuptheirworkspace,
losing25pointsdependingonthemessthattheyhaveleftbehind.Studentswill
alsolosepointsbymissingclasswithoutavalidexcuse,ornotparticipatingin
classdiscussionsandclasscritiques.

ClassroomLayout:
Thetablesareshiftedsothatallthestudentscanseetheboardfromtheirdesks.Aswellthis
makesitsotheteachercanseeallthestudentsfromthefrontoftheclassroomwhenteaching,as
wellasfromtheirdesk.Thetablesarespacesothatthestudentscaneasilywalkinbetweenas
cantheteacher.
