pbekoe@email.arizona.edu. 408-817-0446 November 05, 2015 Dear Nurse Recruiter, My name is Patience Bekoe, a student at the University Of Arizona College Of Nursing. I will be graduating on December 17th 2015, with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN). I am pleased to learn of your new graduate residency program at Multicare Health Center in Tacoma. I am especially interested in caring for the orthopedic/Neurospine population. I have worked with the adult orthopedic population during my nursing school clinical rotation at Tucson Medical Center in Arizona. My second semester orthopedic rotation was the best of all my clinical experiences. I had the opportunity to care for patient with joint replacements, arthritis, fractures, broken bones, genetic malformations, and osteoporosis. During the process, I learned good body mechanics, safe positioning, and transfers. In addition, I learned how to manage my patient pain and how to do a good neurovascular assessment. One of the reasons why I liked my orthopedic rotation was because the environment was fast paced. I like to work in fast-paced environment and I thought the experience was perfect for me. Moreover, I like teamwork, and the environment created just that. In addition to the above, I had my preceptorship experience in a rehabilitation unit where I cared for patient with diverse situations. I cared for patients with Knee and hip replacements, limb amputations, stroke, back surgeries, diabetic, traumatic brain Injuries, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. With this rotation, I collaborated a lot with the physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, dieticians and other members of the disciplinary team to help patients deal with limitations in an adaptive manner, reach their full potential, restore their previous level of function, and maintain or increase modified levels of independence. My preceptorship experience was excellent because it provided an opportunity for me to help patient maintain or recover their independence, which is one of my passion. These experiences in addition to my other strong clinical skills, outstanding organizational skills, communication skills, leadership and management skills and my commitment to compassionate and excellent patient care, will enable me to make a valuable contribution to your Orthopedic/ Med Surg team. My education and experiences makes me an excellent candidate for this residency program. I welcome the opportunity to discuss with you personally how my skills set and strengths can benefit your hospital. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
