Chapter Reflection
Name: Jacqueline Lucas
Chapter Number: 1
Summary

Association for Educational Communications and technology (AECT) and International

society for technology in education (ISTE) are some of many organizations that promote
technology in learning. These standards identify the specific sets of technology skills that are
necessary for both teachers and students. Many of these organizations have standards for the
technology that is used in education. Many states require the teacher to know the basic
knowledge of technology. Many of these teachers are taught technology in any way possible for
them to know the basics. In order to teach or be able to teach technology to the students, all the
states require that the teacher has to be licensed or certified to teach. Students, if ever in need of
information or help about the internet, they go to Media Specialists who must also be able to
know how to use technology. School districts have spent portions of resources for the use of
technology in their schools. Many times there may not be enough resources and they cant
provide for schools in need. With there being teacher formed organizations and many other
organizations, they fight for the need of more technology in schools and being able to use it in
the future.

Reflection

With there being technology in schools, it provides kids with more resources to be able to
learn. I agree with everything chapter 1 says. I believe that there should be more technology in
other schools that don't have them or are in need of them. They should be able to have access to
computers or any other electronics. This is the 21st century where technology is the big picture.
Ever student should have the chance to be taught this information. The teachers I also believe
should have the fundamental knowledge of technology. Without technology in many schools, the
material that they could be learning, could be harder to comprehend or harder to learn. I am very
happy that there are several organizations out there that are fighting for technology in every
school. Every school deserves the chance to learn and have technology for the future that waits.
