There are seven perspectives to psychology. The first is biological
which explains that the cause of behavior is your brain. If you want to change a behavior you have to change the way your brain functions. The second is behaviorism which shows how the environment around you impacts the way you act. The way you are compensated and reprimanded effects the way you act as well. The third is cognitive which is based on a mental process. Examples of it are speaking and thinking. The fourth is humanistic which explains how people are good and can pick freely. This shows how humans develop and grow. The fifth is psychodynamic which is based on inner forces and unconsciousness. The sixth is sociocultural which is based on social influences in our communities and country. The final perspective is evolutionary which shows how mental abilities can change over time. Every perspective can explain each of Jons behaviors. The biological aspect comes into play in every one of his actions. He uses his brain to make every decision in his life. Behaviorism can explain why he has his substance abuse problem based upon the death of his friend and his alcohol problem based upon his parents actions. That shows how the environment around you can impact the way you act. The cognitive perspective explains why he was arrested. He found out by his mental process that his best friend was dating his ex, which drove him to fight. His humanistic part explains why he wants a healthy relationship and a steady job. He would like to make good decisions and choose his future, but he has obstacles in his way. His drug addiction is an example of the psychodynamic perspective. He cannot help his addiction. Him being from a lower class is an example of sociocultural. The stereotypes and surroundings prevent him from getting ahead in life. He has cut all ties to his family as he grows older and struggles to change his life for the better. That is an example of evolutionary perspective.
