Dear Judges,
My name is Precious Wood. As a student here at Harding University High School, the
Graduation Project has provided me with the opportunity to share a topic that I had long to
discuss upon the community and why it is very important to acknowledge. I chose to research
about adolescent employment and the positive outlooks about maintaining a job while attending
school. Relating to this topic due to a personal experience, I wanted to bring awareness because
it is very beneficial to obtain a job as a student.
Throughout my senior year, I sought it to be very difficult to maintain a balance between
working and school because this was my very first job and I had the Graduation Project to
accomplish. I didnt know how I was going to stay focused in school and go directly to work
after it. I had to master the ability of time management due to the limited amount of time to
complete the Graduation Project. Staying up late to finish the project, it was difficult to stay
awake and focus because I was fatigued. Falling asleep in class resulted due to late nights at
work and less time working on the Graduation Project, which made me fall behind on the due
dates for turning in work.
This research was to understand why it is important to acknowledge adolescent employment
because most adults are ignorant to the fact of it. Although a long day of work can result in
fatigue during school, that doesnt overrule the positive benefits it brings along. My research
proved that adolescent employment is very beneficial, providing teens with the essential
skills and traits they needed after high school. As I researched more, I found it to be true that
those who are employed in school have an advantage than those who dont work. Adolescent
employment gives young teenagers a better opportunity to better jobs. My product gave the
Graduation Project a much more realistic look towards it. I interviewed three former classmates
and asked them elaborate on their experiences about being employed and going to school.

Working on this project has elaborated my understanding about adolescent employment and the
positive outlooks it has affected young teenagers around the world. Employment not only
provides financially, but mentally and socially. I have grown sympathy for adolescent workers,
and decided to present this topic to you as a result of awareness. I would like to thank you for
your time and I hope you enjoy my presentation as well.
Sincerely,

Precious Wood
