Molly Brown

I believe a teachers role is to educate her students with enthusiasm, encouragement, and kindness. I
want my students to reach their highest potential intellectually, socially, and emotionally. A teacher should
act as the guide and motivator for each students academic success. The students in my classroom will feel
valued, important, supported, and smart. I believe in challenging my students with high expectations which
we will strive to reach on a daily basis. I believe all students have the ability to learn. All students deserve to
have a teacher who cares for them, challenges them to succeed, and celebrates their unique interests and
talents.
I want to provide my students with a strong educational foundation, upon which they will be able to
build for years to come as they continue their education. I believe students learn best in an environment that
is structured, yet open to self-discovery. In my classroom, I will share my love of learning with my students
to inspire them to be curious about their own interests. My students will feel empowered when they are
allowed to take ownership of their education through exploring their own interests. I believe students should
be active learners. I will help students reach their highest potential through explicit instruction, hands-on
learning, authentic learning experiences, and collaboration with classmates.
I will assess students in a variety of ways. I will implement formative assessments and summative
assessments. Formative assessments will be given in a variety of ways to assess what students are learning
throughout teaching. Formative assessments will include exit slips, quizzes, graphic organizers, and many
other assessment tools. Summative assessments will be given at the end of a unit to see what students
learned. Summative assessments will have a variety of question types and problem based learning activities
to assess students in a variety of ways.
My classroom will be a safe, secure, and respectful environment in which students feel free to be
themselves. By promoting self-respect, respect for others, and positivity, I will create a safe environment for
students to learn, ask questions, and share ideas. I will integrate multicultural education into my classroom
in order for students from all cultures and backgrounds to feel respected and important. When students learn
about authentic representations of their culture in school, they feel valued and accepted. Through
multicultural education, my students will extend their knowledge beyond their own culture in order to
become global citizens.
