Duality
Angry Black White Boy book, written by Adam Mansbach triggers to discuss
topic about a duality. The duality, that is in each of us, and duality that we reflect into the
society. The racism is not only an American holocaust, but the tragedy of the entire
world. It is in every socially created group that separates selves from others for the
specific reason. After deepen into learning of the racism, in result it all comes to one
source and this source and main creator of the inner and outer race mess is the
unbalanced duality and the separation. We look at the racism as a local social problem,
ignoring the fact that its starts within us individually.
A. Mansbachs novel is about Jewish character that was parented by streets of
Boston. Macon Detornay is a graduate of Newton South High School, down whiteboy,
who loves hot sauce and hates the Beastie Boys. Macon has witnessed liberal white
hypocrisy. "Even the most concerned white people," he observes, "have always been
able to back away from race . . . when the truth is too ugly or complicated." (143). The
Los Angeles riots following the acquittal of the officers charged in the assault on Rodney
King was the first Macons realization of the ugly truths. This is pushes him to start his
own riot. Macon tries the ways to bring attention to his protest, without any success. He
continuous and seeks vengeance. Soon after being a freshman at Columbia University
he takes a job as a cabdriver; whenever white people get in his taxi, he point a gun,

calls them "ignorant white devils" and demands their wallets and neckties. These
actions made him know in the city with totally other result that he even could imagine.
That is when he officially becomes Angry Black White Boy.
Mansbach is able to present race issues in humorous form, mocking not only
disingenuous white guilt but also blacks who assimilate all too readily into white culture.
Mansbach brought Macon character as a product of racial conflict and vividly captured
the inhuman sadism inherent in racial violence. In fact every human has duality inside
his or her own experiences. The dark and light, the ups and downs, the black and white,
the conflict of the inner balance. Usually people take side, or assign one depending on
their belief system.
What happens when one born with both side and refuses to take one or another,
when one has to fight within themselves with all the quality of both? That is when
society questions the fundamental structure of its own creation. Macon is life example,
the child of the future of a sick human creation. He is created as a Hero to wake up the
race issues on a global level, he is a hybrid like Laura R. Perez brought to attention in
her thesis about In the Middle, In Between: Cultural Hybridity, Community Rejection,
and the Destabilization of Race in Percival Everetts Erasure, Adam Mansbachs Angry
Black White Boy, and Danzy Sennas Caucasia. Lauras focus on cultural hybridity as
the embodiment of a pluralistic identity that encompasses the characteristics or
attributes of more than one culture or race. These issues build on the historical system
by people. Laura begins her Statement of the Problem with question: What do we know
about race? It is generally accepted that race is a socially created construct and is not

biological. (3) Which means it is just the construction, and its build on duality and
separation, but it is definitely very powerful and destructive construction.
Not biological means - we didn't born with it, we created it by our own falsely
believe system. To begin with, all this issues are started with the FALS tools. If we put
pre-school children of the different color, race and culture in one room, the first thing
they will do, have interest towards each other and after will play with one another not
even know what racism is. When socially constructed falsehood poisons children, they
are forced to take a side or become hybrid. The duality of choice will push them to fit,
transform or face degradation. Everything that is created by people can be re-created or
turn into better develop construction.
Cynthia Estremera in her thesis about Navigating the Miscegenated Identity,
investigates the definition of rice. The term race has many definitions, ranging from a
family unit to a species, but in common and medical usage, defining race has meant
separating Homo sapiens into three to six groups. (4) Which has straight connection to
the dual believe system. It's all starts insight of one individual that strongly believes in
principles of being better than others. It goes to each organized system, for example
religion or just simple learning process. Most of the people don't like to take
responsibility and lead, so they are looking for the leader. With related similarity in the
skin color, the social values, the Gods interpretation, the empire construction, the family
relationship and anything that they praise, they choose their figure to structure a stream.
The stream that leads to love or hate, growth or destruction, crisis or success and finally
if issues grow drastically, to degradation or hybrid nation.

The American citizens becoming hybrid nation, it is a long process to achieve

best result. The fear, the guilt and the anger make the progression slow and painful. If
only each of us, can look inside of our present moment and accept that we are all one
huge product of the higher divine, children of earth and we cant have the same path
and the same belief system, it's written in our DNA. Each of us is very unique by any
means, but we learn from each other false knowledge as well as valuable information
and of course the knowledge of love. The knowledge that makes us feel frustrated,
angry, jealous, guilty, hopeless, lonely, and foreign; and the knowledge that keeps us
together as a strong nation. If each of us can see and recognize, the dual core to every
aspect of this life. We can love because we know what hate is. We think we are on the
top, only because we see those who are on the bottom. We see white only because
there is black. Who would ever talk about the colors if never learn they exist.
The country where I grow up contains most white people. As a five years old
child my experience was little in what I saw. One beautiful day I was walking on the
street of a big city with my mom. Suddenly I saw man in a white long dress like shirt and
white pens. He was walking across the street. When I noticed this man, my jaw dropped
down and eyes grow a size bigger. I was screaming louder than a siren during city
evacuation. Mama, mama, look, look the man on the other side, look how dirty he is,
look! My mom was so embarrassed, she try to shush me down.
I never saw black man in my life; I didnt know black people exist. And now I am
facing racism, people hate each other just because of the skin color and connection to
the history. One thing I am very thankful that my parents never taught me how to hate.
My mother explain me later, that there is country where people are like that, but she

didnt know that there is country where all kind of people are trying to fit and share a life
together, that there is people that abuse one another because of the color, the shape
and the gender. Why some of us think that their kinds are better than other kinds? Is this
because we just don't understand something, because we took something that belong
to this planet and think we are richer, or we think that we are smarter? We always forget
that nothing belongs to us, never was and never will be. Everything comes and goes in
this life. Arent we are always craving for the peace but kill from a revenge, a misery and
a power disease? And after, our children watch us and repeat our lives in one or another
forms. So where is the solution?
In closure of this discussion the true fact is there is no fast fix, either perfect
solution. It is each individual way, first to accept the duality on this planet, the law that
we all function under and the second the choose and have passion towards love and
peace, teach each other how to love, appreciate life, help each other to grow, give a
best to our future generation. Only when we can find unity in one thing, which is sours of
our existence, than we can create with all this experience better and healthier lifestyles,
relationships, teachings, and environment. It takes one example, one Hero, one
sacrifice and power of will to forgive and let go, to love even if it hurts and give when
you have nothing left to give. Sometimes I wish to be that being for people, who can
wake them all up and show the truth of this beautiful creation that most of us can not
see.
