Benefits of Breast Feeding


Infant

Breast fed babies are more resistant to disease and infection


early and later in life.
They have decreased:

Juvenile Diabetes
Multiple Sclerosis
Heart Disease
Obesity
Cancer . And more

Research

has shown a decrease in SIDS.

Barriers to Breastfeeding In The U.S.


Lack of Knowledge

Researched revealed that information about breastfeeding and


formula is scarcely provided by an OB during a women's
prenatal period.

Outstandingly many people believe that the new enhancements


of formula is equally as beneficial as mothers breast milk.

Summary
We do not meet the healthy people goals of

breastfeeding time. We need to better promote the


benefits of breast feeding and make it the norm in
public places. We need to support breastfeeding
mothers to prolong and sustain breastfeeding by
education, access to resources and providing peer
and workplace support.
