Getting Confirmed

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my God, my stronghold in

whom I take refuge, my shield, the glory of my salvation, and high tower. Psalms 18:2
God works in various ways. When I was in Sunday school we always had to read the bible a lot
and sometimes I didnt want to but I had too it made me closer to God. My dad and I always read
the bible when we had time too. We always felt good to read the bible. My family a very
religious sand I respect them for that. We have a lot to icons of Jesus, and Mary. And them both.
My family and I always go to church on Sundays it was so good to go to church. But we dont
really go to church anymore. Getting confirmed was the best day of my life. I had a sponsor to
help me out, how I am closer to God, what I had to do to get confirmed.

Carol was my sponsor for my Confirmation. Carol was my family friend for a very long
time. When my Confirmation came along she volunteer to be my sponsor. A sponsor is someone
that made 4 of the sacraments there are 7 of them. Sometimes I can still smell her perfume that
she wore for the Confirmation. She told me that I can do anything with my life and I listen to her.

I was taking out my dogs and I could smell roses in the air and I knew that she was saying hi to
me. Carol was a beautiful woman. Carol and i would always talk about things that we usual do.
My Confirmation was very huge we had Sunday ccd and Wednesday ccd. We had the students
that were getting confirmed on the right side and the sponsors that were on the left side. St
Patricks that is the church that i go to was so packed when I got confirmed. I was very nervous
when I got confirmed. I was wearing a dark blue dress that has light blue flowers all of it. My
long brown hair that was straightened reached my shoulders was flapping when i walked. Had
eye shadow that was blue like the bottom of the ocean.
God is an amazing person. God helped me when I was going through tough times.
My family and I got into a really bad argument and I just prayed to God and he was there
to hear my prayers. God works in mysterious ways. I know we cant see God but he is
always there to help us out when we dont know who to turn too. I remember my dad
always would turn on the tv and he would but on the religious channel and we would do
the rosary together. God gives us miracles in the bible. The bible says that Jesus God's
son made water into wine. On the last supper in the bible before Jesuss crucifixion he
had his 12 disciples all at a table and he said This is my body (the host) which is given
up for you". Then he shares it with his disciples. Then Jesus takes the cup of wine (the
blood) and says " Drink this all of you this is my blood that is shead for you". Then he
passes it around the table. Everyday I am thankful to be a follower of God and Jesus and
I am happy to call Jesus is my savior. Even though we can't see God or Jesus we can feel
them in our hearts.
There were a lot of things that I had to do before I had to get confirmed.

I had to pick a name before my class even got confirmed. We had to

choose a person that was a saint or someone that we admire. I chose Elizabeth for
my Confirmation name. Elizabeth was John the Baptist mother and I picked that
name because it sound good with my middle name Ann and she did so much for
John and that is what mother's do. She stood by him when John baptized Jesus.
After that we had to write a paper to the Bishop at the time explaining why I
picked that name and what it ment to me. I am thinking in my mind Why do I
have to write a paper to the Bishop in cursive which I dont write in cursive
anyway? It was really hard to write about why we pick the name for our
Confirmation name. We had to write about what kind of community service my
class did. It was a pain to write to the Bishop but my class had to do it. I was part
of what the teacher was teaching. My class had to practice what we had to do
when we saw the Bishop. When the day when I got confirmed finally came I was
happy and nervous at the same time. St Patrick's church was hot inside because
we had a lot of people and it was uncomfortable. It was a very sunny day in
March. The flowers were blooming and it was so pretty. The Bishop was sitting
in a chair in the middle of the church by the stairs. He was wearing a dark red
robe that looked like tree bark. A cross that shined like gold. We had to tell the
Bishop why we picked our names. Everyone picked different names and some of
the names I didnt even know about.

Carol, God and the steps i had to get confirmed is very important to me. I am
happy that I got confirmed and that i am closer to God. Everything in life I take for
granted.
